Yes, a new Interest Application is required for all students, even if your child is currently enrolled in an after-school program.

No, the waitlist is only for after-school programs. Summer program information will be available at the end of January 2026.

Your student will not be considered for enrollment in the 2026-2027 Expanded Learning programs without a completed Interest Application. If you miss the February 6, 2026 deadline, your student(s) will be placed on a waitlist.

No, enrollment is not guaranteed. We enroll students based on ELOP eligibility and program capacity.

We make every effort to accommodate as many students as possible. If you do not receive an enrollment offer by April 10, your student will be placed on the waitlist. We continue to review and monitor the enrollment, and when a space becomes available, one of our enrollment team members will contact you. 

• Priority 1: Students experiencing homelessness, in foster care, or who are low-income
• Priority 2: English learners
• Priority 3: Students enrolled in fee-based programs through the end of 2025-2026 
• Priority 4: All other students interested in a fee-based program

Eligibility for no-cost programming is based on the SCUSD meal application, available at https://www.schoolcafe.com/. The meal application must be completed each year to remain eligible.

English Learner status is determined by the federal assessment, English Learner Proficiency Assessment California (ELPAC). This assessment is given within the first 30 days of Kindergarten (it is not given in TK). We cannot classify your child as an EL until our assessment department provides the results of the assessment. 

The California State Legislature has allocated ongoing funding designated for expanded learning through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) to serve transitional kindergarten through sixth-grade students who are homeless/foster youth, qualify for free/reduced lunch, or are English language learners. This law requires all local education agencies (LEAs) in California to offer a minimum of nine hours of instructional time for the school day.

SCUSD must first offer seats to students from Priority 1 and Priority 2, in that order, followed by our locally determined Priorities 3 and 4, in that order.

• Priority 1: Foster youth, homeless, low-income

• Priority 2: English learners

• Priority 3: Students enrolled in the previous year's fee-based programs

• Priority 4: All other students interested in a fee-based program

Once all students who meet the ELO-P criteria are given an opportunity to register, any remaining spots will be offered to families based on the priority list.

SCUSD will maintain all applications on a waitlist by priorities and will continue to offer spaces as they become available.
